Spring Concert: Grant Us Peace

The Fort Myers Mastersingers along with the Mastersingers Festival Orchestra will perform Ralph Vaughan Williams’ stirring “Cantata Dona Nobis Pacem” (Grant Us Peace), and Elaine Hagenberg’s “Illuminare” under the baton of artistic director Shannon Arnold. “Cantata Dona Nobis Pacem” is a full and dynamic piece using texts from the Mass and Scripture, poems by Walt Whitman and other passages, creating a musical plea for peace that is both challenging and inspiring. Elaine Hagenberg’s “Illuminare” consists of five movements using sacred Latin, Greek and English texts, taking listeners through a story of beauty and goodness that has been disrupted by darkness and confusion, eventually finding peace.
The Mastersingers will be joined by the City of Palms Youth Choir, conducted by Matt Koller and the Intermezzo Choir.
